Better Than Before
An excellent toe-dip into the habits pool. Gretchen Rubin does a fantastic job walking us through different personality types and overall habit formation.
If you’re on the fence about habits or want a more approachable book, this is the one for you.
-
Tiny Habits
BJ Fog is the father of behavioral science and this book is often referenced in other habit formation books and resources.
You’ll learn about the science behind your behaviors and practical methods to modify them. Highly recommend this book if you want to learn as you go.
-
Atomic Habits
Atomic Habits is my bible and is the reason I started down my habit and behavior journey.
It’s more advanced that the other behavior change books, but if you’re ready for change and want to dive in, start here.

Can't Hurt Me
If you need a kick in the pants, David Goggins delivers. This is the first “self improvement” book that spoke to me. He is all about personal accountability and pushing yourself.
Word to the wise, he is crass. So if swearing bothers you, defiantly pass on this one.
-
Becoming Bulletproof
Former Secret Service agent, Evy Poumpouras shares insights and lessons she learned from decades in law enforcement.
There are a zillion, direct and ass kicking self improvement books from men, but Evy is the first female to match directness and candor while remaining compassionate.
In 2020, I was fortunate enough to have a 1:1 call with her and she shook my world. I wouldn’t be doing what I am today if it weren’t for her feedback.
-
Comfort Crisis
This book blew my mind and has stayed with me in ways most books don’t.
Michael Easter shares the power of discomfort and how pushing outside of our comfort zone can improve our health and happiness.
We are capable of more than we think and this book will help you tap into discomfort. HIGHLY recommend. Particularly if you’re feeling bored or stuck in a rut.
Productivity & Working from home

Pomodoro Timer
This is the timer I use and recommend. It’s stylish and incredibly easy to use.
Each side has a set time, and when you turn it, the time starts counting down from whatever number is facing up.
Use the Pomodoro timer for work, cleaning, and parenting. It’s a great way to give yourself timed, focused attention.
Read more about how I use it HERE.
-
Clean, simple storage boxes
I use these Bigso boxes for my portable desk, tidy storage, and to house my kid’s artwork from grade school.
Clutter has been linked to overeating, anxiety, and poorer mental health.
Out of sight, out of mind!
Read about how I use them for a desk in a box HERE.
-
Compact Elliptical Stepper
I’ve had this exact elliptical stepper since 2018, and I love it.
It’s such a great way to get a few extra steps in while you watch TV or take a break from work.
I use this for my Pomodoro brain breaks.
-
Steelcase Office Chair
I searched for months for a desk chair and tried several before finding this one.
I use it for several hours daily and find it very comfortable and stylish. Highly recommend!

Bamboo drawer dividers
Good grief, I love these!
These easy-to-use dividers make getting dressed less stressful because everything is organized and easy to see.
I had plastic dividers for years, and they drove me crazy because they were hard to install, and the adhesive kept popping off.
-
Shower Clock
Originally purchased to help my kids better manage their time, I’ve grown to depend on this shower clock to keep me on task and on time.
Fantastic for those of us with ADHD and time blindness.
I’ve had the same one for over four years and can’t imagine getting ready without it.
-
Padded Kitchen Mats
I have no idea why it took me so long to invest in kitchen mats.
Now I have two: in front of the sink and stove.
Nearly all the ones I found in stores had patterns or weren’t soft. These were most definitely one of my favorite pandemic purchases.
